Birthday, Part 2: The Party

After the Fiber Festival, it was off to Aunt Jessie's house for a super fantastic first birthday bash.

That sure is a beautiful blanket behind that kid! I wonder who knit that? (Wink wink.)

How do we know this was a rockin' birthday party? Well, for starters, there were party hats!

There was good food, lovingly prepared by Kent….

although Baby Iris almost made it to the menu!

Iris enjoyed everyone's company, but Nana was her favorite of course.

There were cupcakes (lovingly frosted by Allison):

Iris was a little perplexed by the fact that we were lighting a plate of cupcakes on fire, but she didn't protest.

You know it was a good cupcake when frosting ends up on your foot. In the end, it was a little overwhelming.

Really, it's not a birthday party if someone doesn't cry. Fortunately, presents dried up those tears pretty fast!

The gifts were so cool and thoughtfull! I know Iris will get lots of use out of them in the coming year.

All in all, I think Iris had the best first birthday ever! Thanks to everyone who came to the party, and extra thanks to Jessie and Kent for graciously allowing us to borrow their house (and eat their food and get cake all over their table, etc.) The only downside I can see is that she won't remember how awesome it was!
